The Honors Program at Barry is designed to challenge, enrich, and prepare especially motivated students to pursue their fullest potential. By participating in a rigorous curriculum rounded out by an array of edifying and interactive events, students explore crucial issues that we face in our daily lives. Students are given the space for discussion and debate and the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields. The Monsignor William Barry Memorial Library is located in the center of the beautiful Miami Shores campus of 草榴社区官方. The Library is named in loving memory of Monsignor William Barry, one of the founders of 草榴社区官方 and an inspirational figure in the Catholic Church within the Archdiocese of Miami. The extensive Library research collections include more than 950,000 physical items, over 40,000 print and on-line journal subscriptions, and several thousand on-line books and streaming video resources.

We are an NCAA Division II school and a member of the Sunshine State Conference with 12 varsity teams, including men's baseball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis; and women's basketball, golf, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. So far, we've won 24 NCAA championships, had 338 All-Americans, 413 Scholar All-Americans, and nine NCAA "Women of the Year" finalists, the most of any Division II school. Not bad at all, but we're going for more.

MIAMI, FL [January 25, 2024] 鈥� 草榴社区官方 announced the appointment of Dr. Pablo Ortiz as Provost, effective June 1, 2024. As Chief Academic Officer of the University, Dr. Ortiz will lead academic strategy and program development, advance faculty achievements, teaching, and research, and coordinate academic support teams across the colleges and schools within academic affairs to foster student-centered initiatives.聽

An experienced academic administrator with a track record of academic excellence, Dr. Ortiz has served as Vice Provost at Florida International University (FIU), where he assisted in attaining top national college rankings, reinvigorated their global initiatives and transformed their Biscayne Bay Campus. Dr. Ortiz recently served as the Interim Senior Vice President of Advancement and CEO of the FIU Foundation and now serves as the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives. Prior to FIU, Dr. Ortiz served as a leader and principal in the Miami Dade County Public School system, where he received multiple Principal of the Year awards and most notably spearheaded Miami Edison Senior High School鈥檚 ranking turnaround.

Dr. Ortiz is a South-Florida born first generation Cuban American with experience and accolades at every level of education, from K-12 to higher education. 草榴社区官方 Alum and Miami Dade County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Jose Dotres worked closely with Dr. Ortiz during his time in the public school system and shared, 鈥淎s a visionary and innovative leader, Dr. Ortiz adds immense value to 草榴社区官方. He has committed himself to enhancing student access, retention, graduation, and inclusivity.聽 He will be a true asset and a strong advocate for all students.鈥澛�

At 草榴社区官方, Dr. Ortiz will oversee academic programs at the school鈥檚 main Miami campus, the School of Law in Orlando, and multiple graduate and doctoral offerings in the Bahamas and throughout the state of Florida.

Dr. Ortiz鈥檚 accomplishments at FIU include enhancing the facilities, expanding enrollments, contributing to an increase in the graduation rate of first-time college students by 26聽 and significantly elevating student persistence. He received his doctoral degree from Nova Southeastern University in Educational Leadership.
